How To Set Up RSS To Recieve The Relationship Coach Blog
Keep up-to-date with all the latest free relationship advice and additions to
The Relationship Coach website
Gettng Started: What is RSS?
The great thing about The Relationship Coach Blog is that it uses a thing called RSS (which stands for "Really Simple Syndication"). Basically, this is just a fancy way of saying that you can keep up-to-date with all the latest additions to this site without having to check the site each week to see what's new. New pages are released through RSS. It's a safe and secure way to read about all the latest stuff added without even having to give your email address!
But the benefits of RSS aren't limited to just this site. You can use this elsewhere on the web too, to receive anything from the latest daily news headlines from CNN or BBC, to just about anything else, including news of upcoming movies and DVD releases, dates of when your favourite performers are going on tour, etc!
Once you get started, it's like having your favourite parts of the Web come to you! No need to keep checking for updates all the time. No need for bookmarks!
To Subscribe:
Alternatively, you can click on the Google, My Yahoo!, My MSN, newsgator or Bloglines button if you have a personalized blog page at any of these.
If what I've just said is new to you, and you didn't understand that much... don't worry!!!
RSS hasn't been around for too long. It is, however, spreading like wildfire because of it's amzing, secure and time-savy way of receiving information... And you're going to be at the cutting edge of computer technology in just a few easy steps!
The only thing you need to do first is to get set up. You have two choices: either Download a Free RSS Reader OR (if you don't want to download software) Join an RSS Online Community on site such as Yahoo!, MSN or Google.
Download a Free RSS Reader
This special software reades the "RSS feeds", whether it be from the largest news organisations such as CNN to yours truly...
While there are many RSS readers out there, listed below are two popular ones - chose the one that is compatible with your computer (Windows OR Mac). Alternatively, feel free to download your own.
Windows - RSS Reader
(select "download" on left navigation bar once in website)
http://www.rssreader.com/
Mac - NetNewsWire
(select "RSS feeds" on left navigation bar once in website - then choose "SpeedDemon")
http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/NetNewsWire/
Once you've downloaded your RSS reader, here's all you have to do...
Right-click (control-click for Mac users) on the orange RSS button that can be found in the left column on this page (as well as the other pages on the website).
nb. On other sites, it works the same... just click on the RSS button to receive the info that interests you.
Select Copy Shortcut ("Copy Link to Clipboard" on a Mac), and paste that URL into your new RSS Reader.
Then whah-la... You'll be subscribed to The Relationship Coach Blog!
Join an RSS Online Community
If you don't want to download software onto your computer, that's OK. You may prefer to use a web-based RSS reader, like My Yahoo!, My MSN, or iGoogle/Google Reader. These provide a simple one-step solution to getting on board with RSS. Just choose which one you'd like to go with (nb. if you don't have a preference, My Yahoo! is the industry RSS leader).
Simply go to any of the pages on the-relationship-coach.com website (including this one) and look for these buttons in the left column:
Click on your button of choice and follow the few easy step-by-step instructions.
Moments later... whah-la... You'll be subscribed to The Relationship Coach Blog!
Well done! Doing new things can be scary, but you've proven that you're up for the challenge.
Your relationship coach,
LJ
P.S. Just a thought: I wonder if you approached this task similarly to how you approach newness or difficulties in your relationships? Excited to embrace a new challenge - A little hesitant, but willing to work it out - Pesimistic that it wouldn't work out - Anxious - Thinking about giving up before you'd even started??? Do you see any patterns or similarities? Is there anything you can learn about yourself from this?
